Every programme has 3 parts: activties, a sports event and a celebration event
One of the best bits about Sky Living For Sport is that the young people can help decide the programme... the teamwork starts right from the beginning.
The group and their teacher plan the activities and figure out how each person gets involved. There are loads of ways to join in and it's not just for athletic superstars:
Playing
Coaching
Choreographing
Leading
Organising
And many more...
Remember, the young people can choose any activity - as long as there's teamwork involved. And it's not just for schools either - activities can take place at local clubs too, for example.
The Main Event
Once the activities are done, the group puts itself to the test by organising a sports event.
What they choose is up to them - it might be a sports day, an after school event inviting students from other schools, or something even more imaginative. It's their day - they decide.
Celebration
Event completed, and all the hard work through, it's time for a well earned celebration. The group presents their achievements to the school or to parents - they did the work, they deserve the credit.
A Lasting Difference
Sky Living For Sport goes beyond fun, although that's a big part of it. Getting active, teamwork, taking responsibility and having pride in their achievements really makes a difference to young people's lives. After participating in the programme, we saw the following improvements last for at least 12 months:
- Improved behaviour: 90% of pupils
- Improved social skills: 93% of pupils
- Improved attendance and punctuality: 90% of pupils
Sky Living For Sport. It really works.
