When you’re writing a story, remember these words in a poem by the writer and journalist Rudyard Kipling:
" I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who".
WHAT has happened?
WHY do we think it has happened?
WHEN did it happen?
HOW did it happen?
WHERE did it happen?
WHO did it happen to, and WHO is affected by it?
Get all these into your story, and you won’t go far wrong.
