My name is Rob Daniel and I am the senior scheduler for Sky Cinema. So basically I schedule Sky Cinema One and Two and also liaise with other departments - publicity, promotions - to ensure that the channel gets onto paper and onto the screen. So I can choose my favourite films basically and put them on air and share them with the viewers - for me that is something of a dream come true.

To work for Sky Movies I think you have to have an interest in film because when you put a film on air it has to appeal to people, so it essential that you keep up with what is happening in movies. You have to be creative, you have to have an eye for detail, and for a classic movie channel you do have to be a bit of film geek.

I studied film at university and that was a very good grounding because it just gave me a complete overview of film. I think for anyone who is trying to get into the industry you do not have to go to university. If you get lots of work experience then I think that will count for something as well. What I did was to just blitz everyone with my CV - small production companies, big TV companies - and I did that for about a year after leaving university and for a year I had nothing, and then one day I got a phone call from somebody and they were just interested in seeing me. So it is really a case of having to persevere at it.
