I am Amanny from Sky Movies production. I am a senior producer in the department, which incorporates and balances the programme-making side with a more managerial side.
I think the best thing about work at Sky is it is a great environment to nurture your talents. It is small enough to invite you in, you're working as part of a team. If you are a researcher for example, an assistant producer would maybe take you in for the day for an edit or a shoot and that is how you learn.
And one of my favourite things actually is doing interviews with talent, with celebrities and film stars and directors.
Today I am working on a programme that is for part of the Star Wars campaigns. It is a play that we have had to put in a studio environment but was also performed at the theatre. My role as a producer is the decision-making role; you work with an editor, but at the same time it is very much a two-way process as well because, although the producer has a final say, the editor does play a huge role in the whole process.
I would advise if anyone was really interested in working in television to have an idea of what you wanted to do because it is so vast. You can't just say you want to work in movies or you want to work in production, you need to have a good idea and an understanding of what it is like to go into television.
