Lecture Lunches have been created for those of you with an interest in arts, history, wildlife and literature and who would relish the idea of a combination of knowledgeable guest speakers, humour, intrigue, a delicious seasonal lunch and a spectacular setting.

Learn about the great statesman and his life at Chartwell, with Stefan Buczaki - the author of ’Churchill and Chartwell’, followed by a light lunch in the restaurant.

The Lady Penelope

Hear author Sally Varlow explore the lost tale of love and politics in the Elizabethan Court as she delves into the history of Lady Penelope Rich - great granddaughter of the ‘Other Boleyn Girl’/ The lecture concludes with a tasty two course lunch.

A Controversial Woman - Emily Hobhouse 1860 - 1926
Trelissick Garden, 21 October 12.30pm - 3pm
This lecture celebrates the work of one of the most controversial women ever - Emily Hobhouse. Once famous for her exposure of British POW camps during the Boer War and her secret peace mission to Berlin during WWI, Emily is now all but forgotten... The talk is preceded by a two-course lunch and a book signing by the lecture’s host, John Hall - author of the Emily Hobhouse biography.

Uses of British Wild Plants

Author Laura Ponsonby takes us through the natural uses of our wild plants. Food, fibres, dyes, timber and medicines are just some of the uses explored, plus rediscovering medical uses that research has recently uncovered. The event includes a two-course lunch.
