Registration FAQs for Sky Employees

Welcome all Sky Employees

We want to help you get involved and make the most of the Joining In experience. That’s why we’ve put together some answers to your frequently asked questions.

WHAT IS JOINING IN?

Q: I’ve never heard of Joining In. What is it?
A: Joining In is the name given to Sky’s staff engagement programme because we want to encourage you to get involved with community projects and support you in the things you are passionate about.

Q: How can I get involved?
A:
Once you’ve registered you can: search and sign up for group or individual volunteering opportunities; add your own volunteering opportunity or apply to be an Eco Ambassador. You can apply for and manage your payroll giving and fundraising and join in with our Bigger Picture initiatives.

REGISTRATION

Q: How do I get started with Joining In?
A:
You will need your Sky Employee Number and a password of your choice. Go to Registration / login page

Q: I can’t register - what should I do?
A: To register for Joining In you need an employee number (found on your security pass), your date of birth and a valid accessible email address (joe.bloggs@internal.bskyb.com addresses will not work). If you are having difficulties registering please can you email the Joining In team joiningin@bskyb.com (opens in a new window)

Q: How long will it take for my records to be updated?
A: Allow 2 working days for the Joining In team and HR Systems to update your records.

FORGOTTEN PASSWORD

Q: I’ve forgotten my password. What do I do?
A: Complete the forgotten password field on the login page and we will email a reminder to you.

Q: How long will it take for my password to arrive?
A: It’ll take a few minutes. If it doesn’t arrive after a couple of attempts please email the Joining In team at joiningin@bskyb.com (opens in a new window)

VOLUNTEERING

Q: How many hours can I volunteer for?
A: You can volunteer for up to 16 hours a year through the Sky volunteering scheme. Once you’ve registered take a look at the BSkyB Volunteering policy for detailed information.

Q: I have a question relating to a volunteering opportunity - who do I contact at Sky for more details?
A:

A: Does my line manager need to know that I have applied for a volunteering opportunity?
Q: Yes as your line manager will have to approve your request. When you apply for an opportunity your line manager will be asked to log in and approve the application. Please note - if your line manager is not listed you will not be able to volunteer, you can ask HR to update your records.

MANGAGING YOUR ACCOUNT

Q: How do I find what I need to do next?
A:
Visit the ‘My Activities’ page to find out all the activities that you can get involved with. Anything that is awaiting your attention will be listed here.

SECURITY

Q: I’m worried about my data. How can I keep it safe?
A:
We’ve taken steps to ensure your personal data is secure. Please do not tell anybody your password. If you do, change it immediately.

Q: Why do I keep getting logged out of the system?
A: This is a security measure. The system automatically logs you out of the system after 10 minutes if you have not being using the site. You will have to log back in again.
