Impacting climate change

Do you know what your footprint is?

A carbon footprint is a measure of our carbon impact on the environment. It estimates how much CO2 we emit through household energy consumption and transport.

We’re all responsible for producing CO2. Imagine the energy we use in a day: heating the water for a shower, boiling the kettle and making toast, driving to school or work, lighting our classrooms or offices - and that’s just the morning!

The Sky Carbon Calculator helps you calculate how much CO2 you and your family produce in your home and through your travel. About 15% of the UK’s CO2 emissions come from domestic energy use and over 20% of its CO2 emissions come from road transport, more than half from cars.

Once you’ve worked out your carbon footprint, the Calculator then suggests simple ways to reduce your CO2, and it’ll tell you how much CO2 and money you’ll save by making these changes.

The thought of climate change can be quite daunting. But making a difference can be simple. If we all make small changes, collectively we can make a big difference to our impact on climate change.

Visit the Sky Carbon Calculator (opens in a new window) to work out your carbon footprint ... and how to reduce it.
