Sky celebrates Earth Day 2009

Follow Sky’s Frogmen tips and save £2,000 a year

  • Taking a daily shower instead of a bath can save £35 a year in energy bills
  • Cycling around 20 miles to work instead of taking a train will save 40 kilos of green house gases a month. That’s the same as £88 off your energy bill.
  • Turning a household thermostat down by 1°C will save £65 each year and on an average gas bill.
  • Turning off unused lights in the home will save you £15 whilst swapping all of the lights in the home to energy saving ones will save £45 per year
  • By fitting a high efficiency boiler and improving household heating controls, you can save £275 a year on energy bills and of 1.2 tonnes of green house gases
  • Cycling to work from Zone 3 to Zone 1 in London, instead of travelling by Tube, would save you around £1,500 a year on travel bills

Dear Friends. These are the Sky Frogmen and they are in London for an Earth Day huddle. And they mean business.

First and foremost on the frogmen’s agenda, is to raise awareness of earth day by any means necessary. If that means walking around the city in flippers, then so be it.

Now they have your attention, they will show you some tips on helping the planet.

One - Try cycling to work. Off you go...

Two - Save water. If you have a bath, why not share it. Cosy...

Three - Turn the heating down, even by a few degrees. Well done!

Four - Turn off lights when you don’t need them. Try to keep up!

Thank you for your attention.
