Support from Sky
Sky Arts is the exclusive Broadcast Sponsor of the Guardian Hay Festival and transmits a wide range of content from it in order that millions of people can enjoy the magic of the festival.
In addition to broadcasting from our specially built studio onsite we also bring a range of exclusive initiatives and activities to Hay. The following are just some of the things that Sky is bringing to this year's festival:
Sky Arts Interactive Masterpiece
To celebrate 21 years of the Hay Festival Sky Arts has commissioned famous artist Jon Burgerman (www.jonburgerman.com/) to create an original work of art that visitors can add to over the course of the festival. Jon will be creating two huge cubes to which anyone and everyone can come and add colour to so making their mark on a unique work that will grow throughout the ten days of the festival.
Global Action Plan's Carbon Gym
If you've ever wondered how much difference it makes to use an energy-efficient light bulb instead of a traditional one then the carbon gym is the place to visit. Giving both your brain and body an environmental workout you can actually see and feel the differences that using everyday energy saving choices make. Global Action Plan is Sky's charity partner.
Sky Learning Zone
Sky is bringing its other arts partners, English National Opera and English National Ballet to Hay in a series of bespoke workshops for children and adults. Offering exclusive opportunities to sing and dance with some of the country's leading professionals the workshops promise to get everybody's toes tapping. On Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May English National Ballet will be bringing a very special guest to help in an exclusive ballet class: Angelina Ballerina.
